Cloud Migration FAQ

On Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, we will be moving our website and APIs to the Amazon Web Services cloud to be able to serve you better in the future. Starting today, you may test out our new cloud-based services to ensure that your access to our products and APIs will be uninterrupted by this change.

You can try it out here: https://beta.energy.vaisala.com/

On or around June 15th, we will update our services so that the web addresses you currently use will automatically redirect to the AWS cloud. These web addresses include:

https://energy.vaisala.com/

https://www.3tier.com/

While this migration should have no or minimal impact for most of our customers, we encourage you to try using our cloud services at https://beta.energy.vaisala.com/ just to make sure you won't have any problems. If you experience an issue, the majority of those can be quickly resolved following our troubleshooting instructions below.

We value your feedback, so please let us know by replying to this email if you have difficulty ahead of our full cloud transition!

Troubleshooting

My browser cannot connect to https://beta.energy.vaisala.com/

Your IT team may have implemented firewalls that are preventing access to our AWS cloud endpoints. Please contact your IT team and ask them to be sure that the following IP addresses are added to any whitelists they may maintain:

IPv4: 52.27.192.72

IPv4: 52.13.193.54

IPv6: 2600:1f14:2a3:b70a::face

IPv6: 2600:1f14:2a3:b7b1::face

My browser gives me a security warning

Your IT team may be managing the list of allowed browser root certificates to ensure that your organization's security policies are met. Please contact your IT team and ask them to add the Amazon Root CA certificates to your browser's trusted list.

Amazon publishes these certificates at https://www.amazontrust.com/repository/

The connections seem slow or pages don't show me what I expect

We're sorry about that! Please contact us to let us know what is happening and tell us which pages and web URLs aren't working so that we can address the problem. During the transition period, there may be times where https://beta.energy.vaisala.com/ experiences some service disruptions and we are working quickly to iron them out.

In the mean time, you can continue to use https://energy.vaisala.com/ as usual.

The API doesn't seem to work

For testing, you can make sure that your API URL starts with https://beta.energy.vaisala.com/api. For example, if you were previously using an API URL like this:

https://www.3tier.com/api/v2/projects

You would change it to this for testing:

https://beta.energy.vaisala.com/api/v2/projects

If that doesn't help, please make sure you've worked with your IT team to whitelist the necessary IP addresses as described above, and also to add the required root certificates from Amazon Web Services as published at https://www.amazontrust.com/repository/ to your API client library software environment.

If you've done all that and still can't access our cloud API, please get in touch so that we can help! Please make sure you include as much detail as you can, including which API method you're trying to use, errors and diagnostic messages.
